The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai held a meeting with Mr Jani Ibrahim the National President of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), aimed at strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Embassy on Friday in Abuja.
Yu stated that Nigeria is a major country in Africa and a key force in the Global South.
He reiterated China’s commitment to enhancing the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, outlining plans to implement the Agreement on Economic Partnership for Shared Development.
This initiative would include a comprehensive zero-tariff treatment to Nigerian products thereby enhancing market access to China.
Yu also expressed his confidence in Nigeria’s developmental prospects and stressed the importance of engaging with the Nigerian business community.
He highlighted that the collaboration would not only deepen mutually cooperation but also inject new dynamism into the economic and trade relationship between the two countries.
In response, Ibrahim commended China’s economic achievements and welcomed the proposed zero-tariff treatment.
He also emphasised the importance of facilitating connections between Nigerian enterprises and their Chinese counterparts to explore investment opportunities.
Ibrahim affirmed his readiness to coordinate with Nigerian businesses to connect enterprises from both countries, while, promoting the advantages of zero tariffs to enhance export channels to China
