WorldStage– Former Transport Minister and Governor of Rivers State, Mr Rotimi Amaechi has revealed how the 2023 Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi confessed the truth when he confronted him over his claim the he didn’t win the the chairmanship of Nigeria’s Governors Forum during the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Making the disclosure in a video currently trending, Amaechi narrated: “After my second election as Chairman Nigeria Governors’ Forum, I tried to mend fences with the then President Goodluck Jonathan who supported my opponent and was uncomfortable with my victory.
“My friend, the Governor of Anambra State, was amongst those who were going round telling people that I did not win the election.
“Unfortunately for the two of us, we met at the Holy Trinity Maitama in Abuja. While kneeling at the altar, Peter Obi was by my side. And I said to him, Governor Obi you are here. He said yes.
“Then I said “you are telling Nigerians that I did not win the election. If you can move forward to the altar now and swear before God that I did not win, I will resign.” Obi said, “No now, it’s politics.”
The video, which has been generating different comments across political leanings, has got some people concluding that Peter Obi has been playing politics of disinformation and deceit with gullible Nigerians, while some others castigated Amaechi for doing much worse, if truly such a scenario played out between them.
