WorldStage–The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has appointed Dr Tinuke Temitope as the chamber’s Pioneer Deputy Director-General.
The President of the chamber, Chief Emeka Obegolu, announced the appointment during the 6th Executive Committee and Council Meeting, on Friday in Abuja.
Obegolu said that the appointment took effect on July 1, 2026, and would help to deepen ACCI’s contribution to Nigeria’s economic development.
According to him, that the position is the first of its kind in the history of the chamber.
He said that the position was created following a resolution reached at the 2025 Executive Committee Retreat as part of ACCI’s strategic efforts to strengthen its institutional capacity.
“The purpose for the creation of the office is also to enhance service delivery to members, and deepen contribution to Nigeria’s economic development.
“The committee unanimously approved Temitope’s appointment in recognition of her dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the chamber’s growth and development.
“We are confident that she will continue to discharge her responsibilities with the same commitment and diligence that have distinguished your service to the chamber,” he said.
The ACCI president further said that the creation of the office was aimed at improving the chamber’s operational efficiency, and strengthening institutional effectiveness.
“It is also aimed at reinforcing ACCI’s role in advancing private sector development and national economic growth.
“This appointment marks another significant milestone in ACCI’s commitment to strengthening its leadership structure and positioning the chamber to deliver greater value to its members and the Nigerian business community,” he said.
The Director-General of ACCI, Mr Agabaidu Jideani, congratulated Temitope on her appointment.
Jideani described her as a committed and accomplished professional whose contributions have significantly advanced the chamber’s growth and development.
He said that before the appointment, Temitope served as Deputy Director at the ACCI Business, Entrepreneurship, Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre.
He said that she was subsequently appointed director of the centre, where she provided exemplary leadership and contributed significantly to entrepreneurship development, capacity building, and institutional growth within the chamber.
“There is no doubt in my mind that you will excel in this new responsibility, just as you have consistently demonstrated excellence in every assignment entrusted to you.
In her acceptance remarks, Temitope expressed profound gratitude to God, Obegolu, the committee, the management council and the entire leadership of the chamber for the confidence reposed in her.
She described her appointment as both a great honour and a reflection of the chamber’s institutional growth.
“This position reflects the chamber’s continuous growth and commitment to excellence. I am deeply honoured to have been entrusted with this responsibility.
“I sincerely appreciate everyone who has contributed to this milestone. The appointment comes with greater responsibility and a renewed commitment to service.“I look forward to taking on this new responsibility with dedication, embracing the challenges ahead, and working collaboratively to advance the vision and mission of the chamber,” she said.
