WorldStage– (Ado-Ekiti) — Voting at Eyelori Polling Unit 003 in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State was temporarily suspended on Saturday following a brief disruption over the placement of the ballot box, but electoral officials swiftly resolved the issue, allowing the exercise to continue peacefully.
According to a situation report, from the polling unit, which has 527 registered voters, the disagreement arose among voters regarding the location of the ballot box. The issue was promptly addressed by relocating the ballot box closer to the voting cubicle, restoring order and enabling voting to resume.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ekiti state 2026 election, Abayomi Shogunle, has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election across the state, describing the process as peaceful and orderly.
Speaking during a monitoring exercise, on Saturday, Shogunle said accreditation and voting commenced promptly at 8:30 a.m. across polling units, noting that the election was witnessing an impressive turnout of voters.
According to him, the sustained voter turnout beyond the opening hours of the election reflects public confidence in the security arrangements put in place by law enforcement agencies.

“As we are seeing here, the same situation is being replicated across all polling units in the local government areas of Ekiti State. Accreditation and voting commenced promptly at 8:30 a.m., and we are witnessing a high turnout of voters,” he said.
The police commissioner explained that security agencies had anticipated the large turnout following pre-election assessments conducted in the days leading up to the poll.
He noted that reports reaching the police command from across the state indicated that the election had remained peaceful, expressing optimism that the calm atmosphere would be sustained throughout the voting process.
Responding to questions from journalists, Shogunle acknowledged the existence of identified flashpoints across the state but assured residents that adequate security measures had been deployed to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
“There are areas of interest where we have heightened security concerns, and we have put in place the necessary security measures to prevent any potential incidents. We are on high alert in those locations and have deployed adequate resources to ensure that no negative incidents occur,” he stated.
The commissioner also dismissed allegations that police officers were demanding money from electoral stakeholders after the exercise, describing the claim as untrue while pledging to investigate any such reports.
On concerns about vote-buying, Shogunle said that as of 10:12 a.m., the police had not received any reports of vote-buying or related electoral offences.
The election continued peacefully in the monitored areas as voters turned out to exercise their democratic rights under the watch of election officials and security personnel.
