WorldStage— Eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who recently resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have rescinded their decision and pledged total loyalty to the party.
The lawmakers previously stepped down from the APC amid grievances that included prolonged unpaid salaries, allowances, and entitlements spanning 32 months, alongside local security concerns.
Reports had earlier linked the legislators to a potential move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The lawmakers finalized their return following a high-stakes, closed-door reconciliation meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday night.
The delegation of returning legislators was led to the State House by the Minister of State for Defence and former Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Bello Matawalle, alongside a member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Sani Jaji.
Following the talks, the lawmakers abandoned their plans to defect to the opposition and committed to working for the success of the APC and President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
According to the delegation, the lawmakers have unanimously resolved to drop their grievances and work collaboratively toward the party’s sweeping victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The returning legislators include Aliyu Ango Kagara, Ibrahim Tukur Bakura, Faruk Musa Dosara, Bashir Abubakar Masama, Muktaru Nasiru Kaura, Nasiru Abdullahi, Bashar Bello, and Bashar Aliyu.
Following presidential intervention, these concerns are being addressed through frameworks led by Matawalle.
Matawalle’s media aide announced that the lawmakers will join the “Tinubu Again Movement” (TAM) to unify campaign efforts for 2027, stabilizing the APC in the opposition-led state.
The reconciliation preserves the APC’s numerical strength in the 24-member Zamfara State House of Assembly, blunting the momentum of opposition parties ahead of the electoral cycle.
