WorldStage— The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that 10 police officers and two civilians were killed during a fierce gun battle with more than 200 armed terrorists in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Monday, August 10, 2026.
Ten police officers, two civilians, and 17 bandits were killed following a brutal two-hour gun battle along the Rafin Makuku axis in the Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Monday, August 10, 2026.
Reports say the ambush occurred around 6:00 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. during when an estimated group of 200 to 240 heavily armed bandits riding on motorcycles stormed a security base at Makuku village.
In a counter-operations, personnel from the Special Intervention Squad and the 44 Police Mobile Force (PMF) intercepted the criminals as they transitioned between Zamfara and Kebbi states.
According to reports, the Kebbi State Police Command quickly deployed reinforcements, heavily supported by the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force fighter jets, which shelled the fleeing bandits.
Beside the 10 slain officers and two civilians, two other police personnel were wounded and evacuated to a federal hospital in Birnin Kebbi.
The retreating bandits reportedly made off with 10 AK-47 rifles, one RPG rifle, and two riot guns.
The police situation report identified the deceased personnel and civilians as ASP Bala Buba (43), Inspector Saminu Sulaiman (40), Inspector Solomon Jatau (39), Inspector Ayuba Hassain (38), Inspector Umar Yahuza (37), Inspector Auwal Sani (38), Inspector Adamu Abdullahi (35), Inspector Abdullahi Magaji (43), Sergeant Jimoh Momo (35), and Corporal Ukpong Otrukmj (34).
Civilians victims of the attack are Mohammadu Magwawara (50) and Muhammadu Tiritiri (45).
