WorldStage—?Deep grief and mounting anxiety have gripped Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State following the sudden death of its executive chairman, Dr. Yahaya Saidu.
Dr. Saidu passed away in the early hours of Friday, October 9, 2026, at a hospital in Kaduna at approximately 1:00 a.m., according to an official statement by the council’s Information Officer, Ahmed Bala Yusha’u.
His death comes a mere three months after he was sworn into office on July 15, 2026.
The tragedy marks a devastating repeat of history for the locality. Dr. Saidu’s passing comes roughly 18 months after his immediate predecessor, Alhaji Shuaibu Babas, died in office on April 23, 2025.
The loss of two sitting chairmen within such a short window has left community members, political associates, and grassroots stakeholders in profound shock.
Regarded widely as a philanthropist and committed community mobiliser, Dr. Saidu had barely begun outlining his development agenda for the local government.
Condolences have poured in from regional leaders, including the Member representing Fufore/Song Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Barr. Aliyu Boya Wakili, who described the demise as an irreparable loss to the constituency.
Funeral prayers (Janazah) for the late chairman were held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Lamido Fuunange Palace in Fufore, amid an atmosphere of collective mourning and uncertainty over the administrative future of the council.
