WorldStage– Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), a regulatory agency under the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment has insisted that businesses have a responsibility to promptly replace faulty goods or provide adequate compensation.
The General Manager, LASCOPA, Mr Afolabi Solebo in a statement issued by Mr Rufai Adesile, Assistant Director, Public Affairs of LASCOPA said the replacement or compensation is line with consumer protection laws.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring safe products to gain confidence of consumers.
Solebo said that consumer confidence would be built on availability of safe and high-quality products that would meet established standards and regulatory requirements.
He encouraged consumers to report grievances through appropriate channels
Solebo gave the assurance of the agency’s continued commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair treatment in the marketplace.
“Consumers have the right to seek redress when sold defective, substandard or unsafe products,” he said.
