WorldStage– Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has charged his counterparts to take full responsibility for security, stressing that the unprecedented resources now available to them are significantly sufficient to tackle insecurity problems in respective states.
Speaking during a Northern Nigeria summit on Monday, he criticized his fellow governors for constantly shifting blame over insecurity, emphasizing that states now have significantly more financial resources and must take direct responsibility for tackling security challenges.
Sule pointed out that monthly allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) have quadrupled under the Bola Tinubu administration.
He stated that in the past, allocations were around N590 billion to N620 billion, but now they have increased to over N2.2 trillion per month.
In August 2025, N2.22 trillion was shared among the three tiers of government.
According to the governor, these increased funds mean state governments can no longer pass the blame for insecurity to the federal government.
He challenged his colleagues to use the unprecedented resources available to them to improve the security situation in their states.
By telling governors to “blame ourselves” instead of making excuses, Sule called for a new approach to governance.
He argued that the current funds are sufficient to address challenges in key sectors like security and economic development.
In addition to security, Sule also highlighted the need for governors to focus on creating strategic opportunities in mining, agriculture, and power.
He shared Nasarawa State’s own progress in compelling investors to establish processing plants to drive economic growth.
