WorldStage– The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a revised list of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, introducing strategic adjustments that include prominent opposition figures in key campaign positions.
The updated council list which was published on Tuesday morning, October 13, 2026, reflects a significant realignment aimed at broadening the ruling party’s cross-party coalition.
Among the most notable appointments is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. Wike, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been designated as the Campaign Coordinator for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in both Rivers State and the FCT.
In a similar vein, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has been named the Campaign Coordinator for Osun State, joining the council despite his own opposition party alignment.
The strategic inclusion of these influential leaders signals an attempt by the APC leadership to fortify its structure and pull regional power brokers into its political orbit ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
The re-engineered council features a high-profile structural hierarchy. President Bola Tinubu formally heads the campaign council, supported by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who both serve as vice-chairmen.
Legislative leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, also hold vice-chairmanship positions.
Beyond state coordinators like Wike and Adeleke, other state governors have been assigned critical roles. Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been appointed as the Director of Finance, while Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun will coordinate fundraising alongside Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) Chairman Zacch Adedeji. Additionally, former Gombe State Governor and serving PDP Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo has joined the team as a Campaign Council Adviser.
According to notices made available to the public, the formal inauguration of the expanded Presidential Campaign Council is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
As the APC reshuffles its administrative machinery, the integration of heavyweights from outside its traditional base sets a complex tone for the upcoming national campaign.
