WorldStage— The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has accused former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso of advancing President Bola Tinubu’s political interests after Kwankwaso urged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to step aside for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Reacting via a statement from Director of Media and Publicity Kola Ologbondiyan to a Channels Television interview, the ADC-PCC criticized Kwankwaso’s call for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to step down for Peter Obi in 2027.
Ologbondiyan labelled the comments as self-serving and divisive, alleging they benefit the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The council questioned Kwankwaso’s focus on opposition figures instead of addressing ongoing economic hardship and security issues under the current administration.
Also, the ADC downplayed the necessity of Kwankwaso’s support in strongholds like Kano State, suggesting his stance prioritizes personal positioning for 2031 over a unified 2027 challenge.
The council asserted that Kwankwaso’s comments are designed to fracture the opposition and weaken the collective effort against the current administration.
As tensions rise, the ADC maintains that internal friction will not distract from the upcoming referendum on Tinubu’s governance.
