WorldStage Newsonline– The Board of Seplat Energy Plc, Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy company on Wednesday announced the resignation of Mr. Austin Avuru, a Non-Executive Director from the Board of SEPLAT Energy with effect from 1st March 2022.
The company had earlier announced that it terminated the contract of appointment of Mr Avuru as a Non-Executive Director on 22nd December 2021, due to breaches of the Company’s corporate governance policies and his fiduciary duties.
It is not clear whether the latest announcement was a sign that he was reconsidered and given an option to resign after the initial termination of contract.
The company could not be reached on the phone on Wednesday as the switch board number +234 (01) 277 0400 kept cutting off after asking caller to wait for operator.
The company in a statement at the Nigerian Exchange said in line with the provisions of the Company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association, Avuru replacement will be nominated to the Board.
“The Board wishes to sincerely thank Mr. Avuru for his founding role and contribution to SEPLAT Energy for the past decade,” the note said.
