WorldStage– A former Kano State Governor and the 2023 presidential candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has urged the Federal Government to take urgent and decisive action to address Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
Kwankwaso made this call in a post on his verified X handle on Monday, lamenting that the recent developments in the country have filled him with deep personal concern about the state of the national affairs.
He also warned that the situation appears overwhelming and poses a grave threat to national unity.
Kwankwaso pointed to a series of recent events as evidence of the escalating crisis, including the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, mass kidnappings in Zamfara, recurring bandit attacks in Kano border communities, and the killing of Brigadier General M. Uba in Borno.
He described the general’s death as a “dark mark” and a failure of intelligence and operations.
He recommended immediate and thorough investigations, expedited rescue operations, and a reinvigoration of the armed forces and police.
Kwankwaso also emphasized that the government must prioritize the safety of its citizens, voicing out concern that government endorsement of untrained state vigilante groups has contributed to the spread of small arms.
