WorldStage Newsonline– The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has strongly condemned the assault of one of its female members in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to a statement, preliminary findings confirmed that operatives of the Anambra State Vigilante Group reportedly stormed a Corps Lodge in the community, alleging that it was being used for illegal activities.
“The vigilante operatives were said to have demanded that all occupants of the lodge submit themselves for a search. During the incident, Corps Member Edema Elohor Jennifer (AN/24C/0626), who was visiting the lodge at the time, was assaulted,” the statement said.
The case was said to have been reported to the police, with investigations and necessary actions ongoing.
In a statement, NYSC management reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of Corps Members across the country. It warned that it would not tolerate any act that threatens the security of its members.
The scheme also appealed to members of the public, particularly host communities and employers, to continue to ensure the safety and protection of Corps Members in their areas.
