The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), has called on Nigerians to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to promote innovation and industrialisation in the country.
Dr Marline Waziri, the North-Central Director of SON, made the call at a road show organised to commemorate the 2024 World Standards Day in Jos.
The theme for the 2024 world standards day is: Shared Vision for a Better World: Spotlight on Industry, innovation and infrastructure in the age of AI.
Waziri explained that the theme of the 2024 world standards day centred on the goal nine of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to her, the theme is aimed at promoting the use of AI toward fostering industrialisation and infrastructural development.
”At the 5th Global Symposium recently in Delhi, India, emphasises was placed on how to achieve industry, innovation and infrastructure through the use of AI.
”What we are saying is that AI is very important in our drive toward achieving industry and innovation in our society.
”So, we are calling on Nigerians, to take advantage of AI to improve their businesses and maintain standards at all times,”she said.
Earlier, Mr Kenneth Shawo, the Director of SON in Plateau, said the world standards day is globally celebrated in Oct. every year to create awareness of standards’ crucial role in the international marketplace – safety, reliability, and quality in the products and services in every sector.
