Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nyesom Wike has announced that operations at the Mabushi and Kugbo bus and taxi terminals will commence within the next one to three weeks.
According to an announcement made by Wike on Friday, March 27, 2026 the terminals, which were completed and inaugurated in June 2025, had remained non-operational while awaiting necessary management approvals.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has officially approved the management of the terminals under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
The selected management team is currently putting processes in place to begin activities.
While the terminals themselves are ready, work continues on access roads, such as the Mabushi Bus Terminal Road, which is slated for inauguration during President Tinubu’s third anniversary.
A third terminal in the CBD is also nearing completion and will follow a similar operational model.
The modern facilities, according to the FCT authorities, are designed to curb the “one chance” robbery menace by providing safe, regulated spaces for commuters to board vehicles.
“We had to go to the FEC and now the management had been approved. The management team was with me today and they are putting processes in place to see that they commence operation soon.
“I am happy that, although we have waited for this long, the waiting will be over in the next one or three weeks,” Wike said.
Speaking on the inspected projects, the minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the Mabushi bus terminal road
