WorldStage– The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 57,000 personnel across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the Easter celebrations.
The directive comes from Commandant General Ahmed Audi, who ordered the deployment of personnel from all units to ensure security during the festive period.
According to Audi, the massive deployment aims to maintain order and public safety as well as ensure a “seamless and secure” festive period across the country.
The deployment involves intensification of security at high-traffic and vulnerable locations, including churches, shopping complexes, parks, and recreational centres.
Specialised tactical units have been placed on maximum alert, including the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and the Crack Squad.
A combination of visible patrols and undercover operatives will be used to identify and neutralise potential threats.
Kwara State tops the deployment priority with 2,280 personnel deployed, followed by Taraba State with 1,500, Delta State with 956, and Zamfara State with 365 personnel deployed.
The NSCDC is working in synergy with other security agencies to protect critical national assets and infrastructure. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation.
