WorldStage Newsonline– The newly appointed Accountant General of the Federation, Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has urged staff to embrace collective responsibility in achieving the office’s objectives.
Speaking during his resumption ceremony on Monday at the Treasury House in Abuja, Ogunjimi assured employees that no one would be victimized under his leadership.
He emphasized the importance of unity and teamwork in advancing the goals of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), pledging to be a listening leader.
“It is good to be back. This is our home, and nobody will drive us out. I want everyone to embrace a spirit of togetherness,” he said. “I do not belong to any group, and I will not polarize this office. If I fail, we all fail. I am ready to commit myself fully to public service.”
Ogunjimi urged staff members to move beyond past challenges and work towards a better Nigeria.
“During my interview, I was asked what I would do differently to change the image of the Treasury House. But I want to put that question back to you—what will you do differently to correct the image of the OAGF? This is a responsibility for all of us.”
He stressed the need to rebuild trust in the nation’s treasury and assured employees that he would not engage in unfair dismissals.
“I have been a victim of chief executives firing directors simply because they don’t like them. I will not be that kind of leader,” he promised.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Ogunjimi as the Accountant General on March 7, 2025, following the retirement of Oluwatoyin Madehin.
