WordStage– Heirs Energies Limited, an energy company controlled by Nigerian business leader Tony Elumelu, has acquired an additional 6 million ordinary shares in Seplat Energy Plc.
According to a regulatory filing released on September 30, 2026, by Seplat Energy Plc, the transaction took place on the London Stock Exchange at a price of £8.87 per share, bringing the total value of the purchase to approximately £53.22 million.
Following the acquisition, Heirs Energies Limited’s direct holding in Seplat Energy has increased to 27,943,867 shares. Combined with holdings from Heirs Holdings Limited, entities controlled by Elumelu—who serves as a Non-Executive Director on Seplat’s board—now hold a total of 126,400,000 ordinary shares.
This consolidated position gives Elumelu’s controlled entities a 21.07% voting interest in the energy company, based on its total issued share capital of 599,944,561 ordinary shares.
The notification was issued by Edith Onwuchekwa, Director of Legal and Company Secretary at Seplat Energy Plc, in compliance with Rule 17.15(c) of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Issuers’ Rules and Article 19(3) of the UK Market Abuse Regulation.
