WorldStage– The Chartered institute of Insurance of Nigeria (CIIN) said it had begun a programme to recruit one million youth into the insurance profession in Nigeria.
Yetunde Olubunmi Ilorin, president, CIIN, said this Thursday in her speech at Business Today’s 2026 Annual Conference and Exhibition at Oriental Hotel in Lagos.
The programme, now online, allows young Nigerians to register and undertake a tenured training that introduces applicants to the basics of insurance as a profession.
There’s also a college of insurance along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway that runs an 18-month programme that fast track the learning, saving the student about three years of professional examinations.
“This effort is the CIIN contribution to the $1 trillion economy which is the focus of of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu,” Ilorin said.
Present at the event were NAICOM’s Commissioner Olusegun Omosehin, represented by Julius Odidi, from the commission ‘s Lagos office, Adefsyo Arowomoju, CEO, Unitrust Insurance Company Ltd, Rkeoma Exeibe, President, Nigeria Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), and others from the media and the insurance industry
