WorldStage– The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated a decisive legal restructuring by filing fresh criminal charges against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the controversial and alleged fake Director-General of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
At the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice Mohammed Garba Umar struck out the initial eight-count charge filed by the police following an application by Director of Public Prosecutions Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN.
The withdrawal came after a review by Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, identified jurisdictional defects, noting that the forgery and conspiracy offenses properly fall under the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The government therefore refiled corrected charges at the FCT High Court for Adeyemi’s re-arraignment.
The PFIPC scandal involved Adeyemi allegedly running a phantom council, securing unauthorized space in the Federal Secretariat Complex, and forging a presidential appointment letter signed by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila alongside opening 34 unauthorized bank accounts.
The scheme was exposed via a whistleblower petition and an ICPC investigation confirming the council lacked legal existence.
Adeyemi now faces charges carrying up to 21 years imprisonment for document and seal forgery, reflecting the government’s strict stance against public impersonation and fraud.
