WorldStage– Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, on Monday, signed N617.95 billion 2026 Budget into law after receiving a copy of the assented Bill from the Gombe State House of Assembly.
Yahaya signed the budget in Gombe in the presence of top government officials and the leadership of the Gombe State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Mr Abubakar Luggerrewo.
Yahaya said that within the last six years of his administration, there had been prudent use of the state’s resources for the benefit of the people through proper implementation of the budget.
He stated that in view of the developmental projects his administration had implemented, he was ready to defend himself anywhere on how the state’s resources were utilused.
“I make bold to say that in the last six years plus, nearly seven years, there has never been such a period that has transformed the state and taken it to this level.
“I’m proud to say that and I’m ready to defend myself, all for you because we are together. We thank God for what we’ve been doing and I want to assure you that we shall still do more.
“Apparently this government will go as the working government; we started with work, we’ll end with work.
“The situation demands that we have to work, work and work, so that we see our people through the challenges of life,” he said.
Yahaya commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting the development of the state through numerous Federal Government’s projects being implemented in the state.
He further lauded the contributions of the state’s house of assembly for their support which he said had been instrumental in the provision of good governance to the good people of the state.
Earlier, Luggerrewo recalled that Gov. Yahaya had on Nov 13, presented a budget proposal of N535.69 billion to the state assembly for legislative review.
He said that after scrutinising the proposal through the Committee for Budget and Appropriation and subsequent assent of the Bill by the house, the proposed budget figure was increased by N82.26 billion.
“There is an increase in the total budget size from the initial N535.69 billion to N617.95 billion and the variance is N82.26 billion. The increase was done in good faith and in the interest of the people of Gombe State,” he said.
