WorldStage– The Nigerian Army has intensified operations against terrorists, insurgents, and criminal networks across the country, achieving notable successes over the past 48 hours.
This is coming after what has now become controversial and troubling threat of military invasion of Nigeria by President Donald Trump of United States of America should the country fail to step up its attack efforts on terrorism, which he claimed targetted Nigerian Christians.
According to a statement released on its official X handle, the military’s renewed offensive aligns with directives from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, to “completely annihilate terrorists and dismantle all networks of criminality.”
The army reported that seven terrorists had been neutralised, 27 suspects arrested, and a range of arms, ammunition, and stolen crude oil products recovered during coordinated operations across multiple regions.
In the North East, Sector 3 of Operation HADIN KAI conducted a cordon-and-search mission in Anguwan Church, Monguno, Borno State, arresting 12 suspects linked to terror logistics and intelligence networks.
Elsewhere, soldiers from the 192 Battalion ambushed militants of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan (JAS) along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, killing three terrorists and seizing an AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition.
Troops of the 25 Brigade in Damboa also neutralised a militant attempting to infiltrate their position.
In the North West and North Central regions, Operation ENDURING PEACE in Kaduna State led to the elimination of two insurgents in Kauru Local Government Area.
Plateau State authorities, meanwhile, arrested four suspects linked to the murder of two civilians in Riyom Local Government Area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Niger State resulted in the neutralisation of a terrorist scout and the recovery of a motorcycle, mobile phone, and other operational items.
The South-South region also recorded significant gains. Troops of the 2 Brigade in Akwa Ibom State apprehended three illegal miners engaged in black sand trading.
In Abia State,144 Battalion discovered an illegal crude oil refining site containing over 1,000 litres of stolen crude.
In Imo State, soldiers of the 34 Artillery Brigade seized six drums of stolen crude and a canoe used for transportation in Ohaji/Egbema.
Delta State’s 90 Amphibious Battalion apprehended three suspects, including an impostor dressed in military camouflage, during a checkpoint operation in Sapele, confiscating fake military ranks, mobile phones, and charms.
The army emphasised that these operations reflect its renewed combat posture under Lieutenant General Shaibu and reaffirm its commitment to restoring lasting peace, protecting citizens, and defending Nigeria’s sovereignty.
It urged the public to support ongoing military efforts by providing credible and timely information, helping to end insecurity and reclaim national territory from criminal elements.
