WorldStage– The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has intercepted a suspicious consignment containing seven pouches of cannabis hidden inside a duvet cover.
NIPOST in a statement disclosed that the package, which originated from Bangkok, Thailand, was addressed to a recipient in Lagos.
The statement said, “While the identities of the sender and receiver are being withheld, the matter has been handed over to the appropriate security agencies for thorough investigation and further action.
“This interception highlights NIPOST’s commitment to maintaining a secure, reliable, and trusted postal system. It also reflects the organisation’s zero tolerance for the use of its network for criminal or illicit activities.
“In line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, NIPOST remains resolute in protecting the public from the dangers of illegal substances, safeguarding the integrity of its operations, and ensuring the postal industry continues to serve as a driver of national security, economic growth, and public confidence.”
