WorldStage– Governors from the South-West region are set to gather in Ibadan on Monday for an emergency meeting convened to address urgent regional matters, with heightened security concerns expected to take center stage.
According to the region’s official sources, the closed-door session will take place at the Governor’s Office in Agodi under the host, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
All six governors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states are to attend the high-level deliberations.
Although full details of the agenda have not been disclosed, insiders familiar with the development revealed that the meeting was swiftly arranged in response to escalating security threats in the region.
The gathering is expected to assess recent incidents, reinforce collaborative security measures, and accelerate coordinated actions aimed at curbing emerging criminal activities.
In addition to security matters, the governors are expected to explore ways to intensify infrastructural development and strengthen regional cooperation under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).
A major point of discussion, according to sources, will also be the operational review of the Amotekun Corps, with a focus on enhancing its efficiency and capacity to confront evolving security challenges.
