WorldStage– The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign former Minister of Labour and Productivity and ex-Anambra State Governor, Chris Ngige, in court.
Ngige was reportedly taken from his residence on Justice Mohammed Bello Road in Asokoro, Abuja, by about 20 EFCC operatives from the agency’s Wuse II Zonal office on Wednesday.
The potential arraignment follows an alleged arrest and detention by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in September 2024 over an alleged N48 billion corruption scandal during his tenure.
Ngige was said to have presented himself to the ICPC for questioning at that time and was said to be cooperating with authorities.
Further details regarding the specific charges to be brought by the EFCC are still emerging.
The ongoing investigation is related to the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
