WorldStage Newsonline– The Lagos member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abayomi Ayeola, who died on Sunday at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos, after a bout with an undisclosed ailment, will be buried today according to Islamic rites.
Ayeola, until his passage, was representing Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency, Lagos State, at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
Aged 59, the two-term lawmaker had clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress to contest for a third term in the 2019 general elections.
The lawmaker was the leader of the Lagos State caucus in the House until his death.
A source in the Lagos caucus, in a chat with our correspondent on Sunday, said, “He died this afternoon at St. Nicholas Hospital. He (allegedly) died of diabetic complications.
“He was serving his second term in the House and recently won APC primary election to run for a third term in office. He was the first lawmaker to break the second term jinx in his federal constituency following his wide popularity in the Ibeju Lekki – Epe division’s politics.
“Campaigns were already in top gear in his constituency in preparation for the February 16, 2019, (Senate and House of Representatives) elections.”
