WorldStage– President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound grief over the passing of the former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, who died at the age of 71.
In an official state press release issued on October 19, 2026, President Tinubu paid glowing tribute to the late statesman, highlighting his decades of devoted public service to Delta State and the nation at large.
A Legacy of Public Service
Dr. Uduaghan’s political and administrative career left a lasting footprint on Delta State. Before his election as governor, he served meritoriously as the Commissioner for Health and later as the Secretary to the State Government.
In 2007, he was elected Governor of Delta State, completing a two-term tenure in 2015 that placed him at the heart of the state’s political and infrastructural evolution. During his time in office, he focused heavily on advancing healthcare delivery, improving vital infrastructure, and uplifting the welfare of Deltans.
Even after leaving office, Dr. Uduaghan remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s socio-economic and political space, consistently championing democratic governance and public service advancement.
Condolences to Family and Nation
Describing his death as a monumental loss to his immediate family, his community, Delta State, and Nigeria, President Tinubu urged the people of Delta State to find strength in his enduring legacy and the widespread relationships he built across the country.
The President extended his deepest sympathies on behalf of the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria to: His wife, Roli; His children; His cousin and former Delta State Governor, James Ibori; Friends, political associates, and all whose lives he touched
“May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn him,” President Tinubu concluded.
