WorldStage NewsOnline—-Nigerians on Saturday returned to polls to vote for governors and members of State Assembly across the country, with early voting in Maiduguri, Borno, some parts of Southern Kaduna, Lagos, others.
In Maiduguri polling booth opened at about 8: 00 am; in most polling units visited amid tight security.
At Bulama Yusuf I and II polling units in Bolori area of Maiduguri, election workers arrived the centers as early as 7: 00 am and commenced the exercise at 8: 00 am.
The situation was the same in several polling units visited at Gwange, GRA Gomori areas of Maiduguri.
Similarly in parts of Southern Kaduna State, voting commenced as witnessed in Jema’a, Kaura and Zangon Kataf local government areas.
In Lagos, voting commenced early on Saturday in some parts of the state.
At polling units 45 and 40 in Ward 8 in the Alimosho Local Government Area, in Egbeda, the electorate were seen arriving as early as 6:15am.
The electoral officials arrived the polling units with their materials at 7: 05 am, while the electorates waited patiently.
Electoral materials were being arranged by the officials and ready for the electioneering process at about 7:57am.
In Gombe state, voting commenced at exactly 8 a.m in many parts of the State with impressive turnout.
Voters were on the queues as early as 6 a.m, waiting for the exercise to commence.
At polling unit 008 and 006 at Kamara Primary School, the Presiding Officer, Augustin Kuji, said that everything needed for the election was on ground and the card readers were working perfectly.
In Pantami/Malamkuri Primary School, the Presiding Officer, Maryam Yayaji, said so far , they had encountered no problem and voting had commenced.
Also, Mr Adams Emmanuel, the Presiding Officer at Justice Pindiga Street, polling unit 017, said that voting started at exactly 8 a.m because they had everything they needed on ground.
At Kofan Parashi, polling unit 003, voting commenced at exactly 8 a.m.
