WorldStage– Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged communities in Katsina State engaging in peace deals with bandits to ensure such agreements do not grant armed groups the freedom to attack neighbouring states.
Peace deals have become a recurring practice in parts of the North, particularly in Katsina State, where bandits often attend dialogue meetings while openly carrying sophisticated weapons.
For the record, the military has lost a number of high-ranking officers in operations against the terrorists and bandits.
Military officers that have lost their lives in line of duty include Colonel Abu Ali, killed alongside his soldiers in an ambush by Boko Haram in Malam Fatori in Borno State; Colonel Dahiru Bako, Killed in an ambush with his soldiers in Sabon Gari-Wajiroko axis in Damboa Local Government, Borno; Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu- Killed in an ambush with his soldiers in Askira Uba, Borno State; and Brigadier General M Uba – ambushed and killed with his soldiers along Wajiroko in Damboa Local Government, Borno.
