Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu said the police force has committed to working with the National Insurance Commission in enforcing the provision of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform (NIRA) Act 2025.
Disu gave the assurance at a meeting with NAICOM’s boss Olusegun Omosehin in Abuja on April 6 where they discussed joint efforts to implement the Act’s provisions.
Omosehin said the Act seeks to modernize the insurance industry, promote transparency, and protect policyholders’ interests in achieving financial freedom in Nigeria.
According to him, the commission cannot achieve these without the support of law enforcers.
And the foremost law enforcement agency in Nigeria assured the commission of its readiness to collaborate in enforcing the law and sanitizing the industry.
Both agreed their efforts will build public trust, curbing illegal insurance practices, and enhancing service delivery within the industry.
Disu assured the police will provide operational and legal backing that will bring offenders to justice and guard the rights of policyholders.
